![]() But if I was starting PoD or SSB I would create: But if those 26 extra levels were diverted to a mage or cleric, you gain a lot and lose little. Gygax was very speciesist.Ī lv 40 fighter is not much better than a lv 14 fighter. And I figure I should approach the run-through on the assumption that anyone might be killed.Ĭan anyone offer any suggestions on these parties for a full run-through?Įven if you house rule to remove racial level caps, Humans are still superior because of their ability to dual class. The downside of using a Elf is if they die, unless I also house-rule that Elves can be resurrected (which would happen via the editor, I guess), I'd be short a player. ![]() I think this would offer a bit more magic capabilities, and if I ignore level limits via the editor, the Fighter/Magic User would actually progress (albeit slowly) and remain useful. ![]() My recollection of the game is that, you end up starting to genuinely need magic by the time you're out of the Fire Knives (and even in it, during the final battle), but they'd basically be ok during Pool of Radiance with only clerical magic. In Curse, I'll likely dual-class my Rangers to Magic Users around level 10 or so, although I'm wondering if the party will be ok from levels 8-10. They will likely hit about level 7 or 8 (a bit lower for the fighter/thief), and can then be transferred to Curse. With that in mind, my plan for a party is as follows:įor Pool of Radiance, I figure this team will do fine. I'm also "house ruling" that there are no level limits for demi-humans (since nobody I know ever played the game that way back in the day). ![]() My plan is to run Pool of Radiance with the Gold Box Companion tool to allow me to create Paladins and Rangers for that game, then essentially recreate the characters in Curse of the Azure Bonds if I can't do the actual character transfer (which shouldn't be hard, with the editor). So, as the title says, I'm planning on running through the full series of games, but using GBC, so that I can "house rule" a few things. ![]()
